Introducing Olwyn’s New Charity Partner: Kalayaan

Olwyn is very happy to announce its support of a new grass roots charity partner, Kalayaan. Kalayaan work with migrant domestic workers in the UK to help them access their rights. Migrant domestic workers are predominantly women who have entered the UK with a named employer to work in their household. Often workers are entirely dependent on their employers for housing and immigration status and often find themselves exploited, some seriously abused and trafficked to the UK for domestic servitude. Kalayaan offers essential advice and support to these migrant workers. Having heard many of their desperate stories first hand we were incredibly moved by the plight of these workers and the work that the team at Kalayaan who are pushing for policy change for the rights of these workers to be recognised as well as giving them individual support to re-build their lives.
